Why clothes need air conditioning in Dubai
Heat and humidity are what ruin stored clothes. Moisture brings mildew and musty smells, and dust mites settle in natural fibres. A steady 20 to 25°C with humidity under 55% keeps wool, silk, leather and furs as you left them.
How to store winter clothes
- Wash or dry-clean everything first, and make sure it's completely dry.
- Repair holes and tears before they spread.
- Use breathable cotton bags or boxes, not plastic or vacuum bags, for long stays.
- Fold sweaters so they don't stretch; hang dresses and fur coats in cotton garment bags.
- Wrap delicate or natural-fibre pieces in acid-free tissue, and add cedar to keep moths away.
